He keeps the ball moving and shows great heart in the middle of the pitch. The right-footed Andrea is not yet 28 and he joins the Rossoblu after four years at AC Milan where he made 109 appearances in all competitions. In his first two seasons, he was a key player under Allegri, Seedorf and Inzaghi as he played alongside Montolivo, Nocerino, De Jong, Essien and Muntari. They were difficult years for Milan but Poli won the respect of the fans. In his third season, he played regularly alongside Kucka who offered greater physically but the Slovakian was a less elegant player than Poli. Under Montella, he featured sparingly in the season finished last May before joing Bologna.
Previously, he was regarded as one of the top Italian prospects while at Sampdoria with his form forcing Palombo to play in defence to creat space for Poli. He then moved to Inter where he only remained until January on account of injury. Cesare Prandelli gave him his Italy debut at the age of just 22 against England. He has scored twice at the Stadio Dall’Ara, once for Italy against San Marino in May 2013 and then again for Milan in a 3-3 draw that left a bitter taste in our mouthes.
