Vincenzo Italiano on the draw: “We needed a reaction after the recent defeats, and we showed that today, but Cagliari didn’t give us much space and it wasn’t the best game to watch. We’ve been competing in four competitions this season, which hasn’t been easy. In recent years, people here at Bologna have seen a high level of football and rightly expect that. My future? I’m under contract. We’ve had two fantastic years, and even this season we’ve given the fans plenty to enjoy. We’ll sit down with the club soon and assess, then we’ll see what comes from that. Bologna have built competitive squads in recent years. Next season the main focus will be the league, and we need to be ready for that.”

Lorenzo De Silvestri after the game: “It’s a shame, because we could have won today. We really wanted to do it for our fans, but we weren’t threatening enough. We know what the supporters expect, and that’s fair. We want to thank them today because there were so many of them, it’s always great to see a full stadium. It’s been a long season. We’ve played around 60 games, with highs like the Super Cup final and the Europa League quarter-finals, and lows, especially in the league. But that’s part of football, and the desire to do well has always been there.
The group has grown. To the younger players, I’d say difficulties are part of the journey and you have to face them, we’ll learn a lot from this season. Today was my 461st Serie A appearance. I’m a veteran now, but I feel good. I’ve built a strong relationship with the club, and we’ll meet in the coming days to discuss my future. I’m more than happy to keep playing.”
