Bologna vs. Real Madrid Legends on 9 October

Koch; Chiara, Pessarelli; Bragaglia, Della Valle, Nanni; Donati, Rauch, Bernabeu, Mezzano, Gradi. In the first Bologna team from 20 March 1910, one name stands out from the others. Bernabeu. Like Santiago, the President of Real Madrid and the stadium named in his honour. It was one of those coincidences in life that one of the brothers of the legendary Real Madrid figure was one of the founding fathers of Bologna. A student at the Collegio di Spagna, Antonio Bernabeu was one of the founders and first Bologna players between 1909 and 1912 before graduating and returning to Madrid. He never forgot his time at Bologna as he would state later on in a touching letter to the Club.

There’s a subtle link between Bologna and Real, a family matter. A family that brings the two clubs together, 110 years on from those heroic times.
