Restyling the Dall’Ara: Bologna deliver their final project proposal to the City Council

A joint press release from Bologna FC 1909 and the City of Bologna:

In full compliance with all of the conditions and deadlines outlined, today, Bologna Football Club 1909 presented their formal proposal to the City Council of Bologna to renovate and modernise the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, with the proposal accompanied by an economic-financial plan. The project’s hand-in will now allow the committee led by Mayor Virginio Merola to proceed with the process of approving the declaration of public interest. Once the declaration has been approved by the committee, the City Council will then have a maximum of 90 days to assess the technical-economic aspects of the project. The submitted project proposal gives Bologna Football Club 1909 the surface rights to the stadium for the next 40 years. As expected, the proposal also outlines a contribution of 40 million euros from the administration in support of the project’s completion.

In light of this, the stadium’s renovation is well and truly on track, with this marking an important step alongside the resumption of Serie A and the light at the end of the tunnel for the COVID-19 crisis. An investment in sport which is unequalled in modern-day Italy. The decision to renovate the Dall’Ara, one of the most beautiful sporting facilities in Italy, represents a key symbol of the wider urban redevelopment works all over the city. Exactly the reason why the City Council wanted to be a partner in the project, financially too, alongside Bologna and Joey Saputo: a joint investment that will permit the restoration of a key feature of Bologna. A stadium which is part of the heritage of both the City Council and the city itself, and one which will soon be restored to the charm of its past and form of its future.
