1937 Paris Expo Trophy to go on display ahead of #BFCPescara

There is a special appointment on Sunday at the Dall’Ara ahead of #BFCPescara during the Match Day Show. 80 years after Bologna’s triumph at the Paris Expo Tournament in 1937, the cup won by Arpad Weisz’s Rossoblu side will be on display at the stadium. Relatives from the Sansoe, Montesanto, Fiorini, Schiavio and Reguzzoni families who won the silverware will also be in attendance.

The competition was held in Le Havre, Strasbourg, Antibes , Lille and Paris between 30th May and 6th June 1937. The participating teams were Austria Vienna, Slavia Prague, Chelsea, Olympique Marseille, Sochaux, Leipzig, Phobus Budapest and Bologna with the Rossoblu invited as the champions of Italy in 1936-37. English side Chelsea were there after not especially convincing results for traditional masters England on the international scene against Italy, Austria, Czechoslovakia and Spain. Bologna eventually beat the favourites Chelsea 4-1 as English sides participated in continental competition for the first time. The cup was put on offer by the daily sporting newspaper L’Auto.
