Torosidis helps send Greece through to the World Cup play-offs

Vasilis Torosidis played a starring role during Greece’s 4-0 win over Gibraltar on Tuesday, both scoring and getting an assist to send Greece through to the World Cup play-offs next month. The Rossoblu full-back was substituted in the 69th minute. Sweden also advanced to the play-offs, finishing second in their group after a 2-0 defeat in the Netherlands. Neither Emil Krafth or Filip Helander featured during the match.

The great disappointment of the night was for Erick Pulgar‘s Chile, who lost 3-0 to Brazil and subsequently failed to qualify. Adam Nagy played the entire match during Hungary’s win over the Faroe Islands. Meanwhile, Giancarlo Gonzalez came on in the 75th minute in Costa Rica’s 2-1 win over Panama. Lastly, Hamza El Kaouakibi featured in the first half for Morocco’s Under-21 National Team’s 4-0 defeat to Italy.
