“We started really poorly. It took us a while to wake up and we didn’t get tight to our man and conceded early with a route one goal. We then reacted and got ourselves ahead and then there was that nonsensical penalty. Medel got the ball; there was the slightest bit of contact but not enough to make the player go down like that. They called the referee over to review the decision and he still upheld it. I don’t understand it. It’s a shame that things like that happen; I also haven’t forgotten what happened to Orsolini in Rome. He had refereed it well until then but totally ruined it. It’s a tough one to take and I feel for the fans that travelled here today.”
