Sam Beukema joins Bologna

Bologna Fc 1909 can announce that defender Sam Beukema has signed for the Club on a permanent deal from AZ Alkmaar.

Becoming the seventh player from the Netherlands in the Club’s history, the 24-year-old is a right-footed central defender, a strong marker and has excellent technical ability. He joins after an excellent season with AZ, where he made 44 appearances in all competitions contributing to the Biancorossi’s run to the Conference League semi-finals and a fourth-placed finish in the Eredivisie with the third best defence. Always lining up as the right centre-half, he has matured greatly since his debut year for Alkmaar: he is strong in the air, reads the game well and can play out through the lines from the back. Previously, he had started out at his hometown club of Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer, before moving to AZ in the summer of 2021 where he played 81 times and scored six goals in League and European cup games.
