Official Statement

Bologna Fc 1909, having taken note of the incomprehensible decision by the Lega Serie A to postpone the match Cagliari v Bologna to Tuesday 11 January, expresses its strongest aversion to an unmotivated, penalising and vexatious decision.

All members of the team group have been in home isolation since Wednesday and will remain there until this evening due to an order by the AUSL of Bologna, the legitimacy of which has also been confirmed by the TAR of Emilia Romagna. The players who do not test positive for Covid-19 will therefore have to leave for Cagliari tomorrow and play a league match on Tuesday without having been able to train for a week, with all the risks that this entails for the athletes’ safety.
We are appalled at a measure taken without any real need for urgency (neither Bologna nor Cagliari are playing in the European cups, so there are plenty of available dates in the calendar to reschedule), which shows contempt for the most basic principles of competitive fairness and protection of players’ physical integrity.
