Falcinelli’s career so far

A powerful and fast centre-forward, he’s very good at pouncing on loose balls and attacking space. He works a lot on the pitch and is very vocal with his strike partners. The high points in his career have come when lining up alongside a fellow striker such as during the 2014-15 Serie B side when he played alongside Ardemagni in the second half of the season for Perugia and during the historic year with Crotone in which he played a key role alongside Trotta in keeping the Calabrian side up against the odds. He was rewarded with a call-up for Italy, making his debut against San Marino in a friendly 12 months ago.

A mature forward, he has refined his movement without the ball and he’s shown a dangerous shot from distance in recent years. After a long spell of being loaned out by Sassuolo to clubs in Serie C and B, he was key for Perugia as they made the playoffs with Camplone setting the side up in a 3-5-2 formation with Crescenzi and Faraoni playing the ball into the middle from the flanks. In Calabria, his left foot and instinct inside the penalty box made the difference in staving off relegation for Crotone. Highlights were a hat-trick against Empoli and a brace against Inter who are one of his favourite opponents. Falcinelli also started to show more of his heading prowess. He then scored for the Neroverdi against the Nerazzurri before moving to Fiorentina where he didn’t feature much. In July 2018, he joined the Rossoblu on a permanent basis.
