Donadoni disappointed with refereeing decisions from #NapoliBFC

Roberto Donadoni gave his verdict following #NapoliBFC on Sunday: “Beyond the result, I am pleased with the team’s performance, especially during the first half. However, today it was evident that the referee didn’t want to lose too much time with VAR. Jokes aside, it’s disappointing to an officiating discrepancy. You can whistle for the penalty (in the case of Masina and Callejon and with Koulibaly’s handball) and then see if VAR detects a clear error. Or, you can not give a decision at all and then just wait for the referee to check the monitor. It should be the same in all situations because VAR is only currently used in cases of clear mistakes. With Masina’s presumed foul, the referee told us that he couldn’t judge the intensity, but that was what made the difference. Apart from these incidents, which decided the result, we had two or three goalscoring chances and this demonstrated the spirit of our performance. We troubled Napoli on a number of occasions. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough and we’re now returning home with a lot of anger.”
