De Maio: “We did well to remain united after Udinese’s goal”

“It was a convincing win and we are doubly pleased with it because it came in front of our own fans. It was important that we won to bring that bit of consistency to our results at home. We felt a kind of release after our match against Roma and now we are more relaxed. Despite going behind today, we remained united and didn’t start to rush things before we drew level. Ever since the Coach has been here we’ve worked a lot defensively; we always try and put pressure on the ball carrier and get on with it as quickly as possible when we win the ball back. In any case, there’s still a lot to improve. We knew it would be difficult today and these were three points that we needed. The President asked us yesterday to give him a birthday present, and we are happy to have celebrated it in the best possible way.”
