Bologna Women lose 2-0 to Parma

The first derby of the season came against Parma Women: at the Sporting Camp “Bonarelli”, a good first half from Bologna Women wasn’t enough to leave behind the defeat in Genoa and move up in the league table. In the second half, Cox and Peruzzo managed to score and allowed for the gialloblù to maintain their top spot in the league on 18 points; our rossoblù are now 6 points off the lead and will sit in fifth place this week.

The deadlock remained for 45 minutes, for Gelmetti and teammates, who for large parts of the game applied pressure to Parma, who were saved by Copetti. The visiting goalkeeper, had to make an early stop minutes into the game after a venomous right footed shot from Gelmetti who kept piling on the pressure on the opponents; minutes later, a good spell of play from Rossi forced the goalkeeper into a good save from the number 77 ducale. The final big chance, after developments from a dead ball situation, came from a right footed attempt from Golob, who struck decisively at the far post, but was crucially deflected wide.

In the second half, Parma came out and found the lead from a corner, in the 52nd minute, Cox latched onto the long ball, without giving Shore a chance. The advantage was doubled for Parma, Peruzzo on the scoresheet again seven minutes later, when from the left – by chance – scored past the rossoblù keeper with a shot-cross. The 2-0 was a scoreline which was too much for Bologna, Distefano went close to scoring a third, while at the other end Gelmetti found her shot saved by Copetti.

The next game will be on Sunday 20 October at 15:00 CEST, at home at Vis Mediterranea.
