Inzaghi: ‘We wanted to win for the fans, now we work hard for next Sunday’
“We had a great chance to open the scoring through Palacio in the first-half, then plenty of opportunities from corners. But Spal won thanks to a great long-range strike and at the end we couldn’t quite equalise through Helander. The match was always tight, it was difficult to break through. It was one of those classic games where the first team to score wins. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, we have to do much better but we have plenty of belief that we can. I started with Santander up-front to gain something extra in the aerial battles, my idea was to introduce Falcinelli after the break when we would have had more space in attack. We have fantastic supporters, we wanted to win for them and we must start again straight way. The team gave everything they had, in the second-half however we did not start well. We accept the result and we will continue to work hard because it’s the only way I know.”
