Pulgar: “The penalty? I looked in Dzemaili’s eyes and we decided that I’d take it”

Erick Pulgar spoke after he opened the scoring in today’s win over Sassuolo.

“Before going on, I was listening to the final instructions and preparing. The Coach came up to me and asked if I’d take it and I said I was ready but inside I thought that Dzemaili wanted it. Then we came together and looked at each other on the pitch, deciding in that moment that I’d take it. I, therefore, thank the gaffer and Dzema for their faith in me. It was a great win, the changes made the difference. This shows that those who start and those who come on are ready. The group is strong, I’ve said that for some time and we’ve got more confidence in ourselves. There are a lot of games to go, we have more work to do and we need to learn to finish games earlier so it’s no such hard work.”
