Motta’s comments after Monza draw

This is what Thiago Motta had to say after this evening’s 0-0 draw: “We produced an excellent performance, creating plenty of chances and not allowing Monza to counter. We went for the win for the entire match but came up against a side who defended well and wasted a lot of time. Sometimes, I feel that Italian football is taking steps backwards rather than forwards. The ball didn’t enter the net, but we played much better today compared to the game in Frosinone. I only made one substitution because the team were doing well and I didn’t see a need to change anything; we were just missing a goal.”
