Dijks: His career so for, including four seasons at Ajax

The first Dutch player in Bologna history, Mitchell Dijks is a left-footed full-back. He was born in 1993 and he’s impressive physically, standing at 194 cm. A native of the southern part of the Netherlands, he was at the Volendam youth system before moving to Ajax at 16. He made his debut in the Eredivisie in summer 2012 with Frank De Boer on the bench. After winning the Dutch league at the first attempt, he continued with his development by moving to Heerenveen on loan next season where he was coached by van Basten. He played a key role as the team finished fifth, showing his pace on the left flank despite his height while he was always competitive in one-on-one situations.

He then moved to the ambitious newly-promoted side Willem II before returning to the Amsterdam ArenA in the summer 2015. With 29 starts on the left, he was a part of De Boer’s side while Milik scored the goals up front during a head-to-head battle with Psv who eventually won the league by two points. He also played in England for Norwich City. In the end, he featured 80 times for Ajax including in nine European fixtures before saluting the fans who showed great appreciation for his dedication. After playing for the various Dutch youth sides and was called up for the senior team in 2016 but he didn’t play.  In May 2018, he’s joining Bologna on a permanent basis.
