BOLOGNA SPEAKS SIGN LANGUAGE
Starting from this season, Bologna is taking another important step towards inclusion by creating a project dedicated to the blind community who follow the Rossoblù and enjoy the emotions of the matches at the Dall’Ara.
Beginning with #BFCComo, the first home game of the season, the big-screen graphics that present the lineups will also include videos with the players’ sign-names, so that the Dall’Ara can increasingly become a home for everyone, without barriers.
Sign-names are much more than a simple translation: they are a unique way in which Deaf people identify within their community. Each sign is tied to physical traits, personality characteristics, or special features, and becomes an integral part of the identity of the person.
These signs facilitate communication but also hold deep social and cultural value: when people also choose to use and respect them, they recognise sign language as a real language and help to create an inclusive environment where differences are valued.
The project has been created in collaboration with a group of Rossoblù fans who have come up with the individual characteristics of every single player and created signs that represent them in the best way.
An example? Lorenzo De Silvestri, known as “il Sindaco”, has a name inspired by the sash of the city’s first citizen.
