Presenting the award were the two ‘Building Kindness’ ambassadors, Gaia Simonetti (also representing USSI Toscana) and Chiara Castellani, Vice President of ‘Building Kindness’. They handed over the symbolic jersey to CEO Claudio Fenucci, joined by Valentina Vanicore and Veronica Pedrelli from the club’s CSR – Marketing Department. The ceremony was also supported by USSI Emilia-Romagna.
The Award was inspired by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s heartwarming gesture, when he was among the first to welcome a family fleeing the war. The award celebrates acts and projects of kindness expressed through sport, and in its three years of existence (it was established in the autumn of 2022), it has already recognised more than 30 stories of kindness from athletes, managers, and teams.
Bologna’s initiative marks an important step forward on the path toward inclusion, launching a project dedicated to the deaf community that passionately supports the rossoblù colours.
The project was developed in collaboration with a group of deaf Bologna fans, who identified the key traits of each player and created personalized signs to represent them.
For example, Lorenzo De Silvestri, known to everyone as “the Mayor”, has a name-sign inspired by the mayor’s ceremonial sash.
