Andrea Poli’s career so far
Born in Vittorio Veneto (TV) on 29/09/1989, Andrea Poli came through at Treviso where he made his debut in Serie B with the first team during the 2006-7 season at the age of 17.
On 31st January 2007, he was signed by Sampdoria who allowed him to remain on loan at Treviso where he finished the season making four appearances, with three as a starter.
In following season, he was in the Blucerchiati’s Primavera side which won the Coppa Italia and he made his Serie A debut on 4th November 2007. Sampdoria resigned him in January 2008 before he moved to Sassuolo on loan where he made 32 appearances (22 as a starter) and he scored five goals in Serie B.
He returned to Genoa after his loan where he was an important figure in two contrasting seasons. In 2009/10, Sampdoria finished fourth in the table and earned a place in the Champions League playoffs but the following season culminated with relegation.
On 29th August 2011, he joined Inter on a loan with a clause to make the deal permanent. He ended the season with 18 Serie A appearances, two in the Coppa Italia and one in the Champions League but Inter didn’t take up their option to sign him permanently and he returned to Sampdoria for the next season. In July 2013, he moved to Milan and the club signed him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
In June 2017, he became a Bologna player.
Poli is a player who is capable in both attack and defence. His ability to run is one of his strengths as he fights for every ball and he’s able to make runs which allow him to shoot at goal.
For Italy, he came through the youth ranks. He made seven Under-17 appearances, four for the Under-18s, 19 for the Under-19s, one for the Under-20s and 13 for the Under-21s. In August 2012, he represented the senior side for the first time at the age of 22 after he was selected by Cesare Prandelli.
