Aebischer’s career
The fifth Swiss player in Bologna’s history, Michel is a right-footed, attacking-minded midfielder: a mature player with good international experience, he was one of the mainstays of Young Boys, with whom he won the last four league titles. Skilled at protecting the ball and in the transitional phase, well built physically, in his six seasons in the Swiss top division he has always shown his ability to score (12 goals in 133 appearances), exploiting, in particular, his pace and ability to make runs through the middle.
Born in 1997, he made his debut in the Superleague as a youngster in September 2016, while in the meantime he distinguished himself as a fundamental piece of the midfield of all the youth national teams. In yellow and white of BSC Young Boys, he progressively gained more and more minutes and played his part in their return to the top for a club that hadn’t won for more than 30 years and who now feature regularly in the Champions League. He has been part of the Swiss national team since November 2019 and recently celebrated qualification for Qatar 2022 after a comfortable win over Bulgaria that sent Italy into the play-offs. This season, Aebischer has made 15 appearances in the league with two goals, plus 11 in the Champions League with a goal and two assists, both in the 3-3 draw against Atalanta, a result which cost the men from Bergamo dearly in the context of qualification.
From January 2022, he joins the Rossoblù on loan with the obligation to buy him outright.
