Gazzaneo challenges Agostini and Esposito views it to be a foul in the penalty area. Cesena receive the penalty kick and Traini scores to make it 1-0. The Dall’Ara groans in unison and Corioni’s Rossoblu look to continue their disappointing start to the season. How much will he want to spend at Bologna? Does he only seek to boost his own personal visibility despite all of his beautiful promises? The first months of his new presidency have been full of mistrust and modest results, only time will tell if he is to stick to his word. The ambition of Mazzone and Nello Governato struggles to make much of an impact during the first part of this dull championship. De Vecchi is slow, Marocchino is slack, whilst Pradella has scored just two goals in 10 games. The team is only saved by the creativity shown by the latest arrival Sorbi and the brilliance of Marocchi, who are both absent during game against Cesena. When the away side take the lead after a penalty, Bologna’s players are forced to truly look each other in the eye and understand where their season is going wrong.

Stirred by the aggrieved crowd, the Rossoblu soon start to push back an inferior Cesena side. The next half an hour sees a number of assaults on the opposition penalty area. The first coming from the head of Marronaro, whilst Limido also forces a strong save from Dadina. Sorbi also threatens the goalkeeper but it is not enough. The breakthrough finally comes when Sorbi swings in an accurate cross from the right-hand side, with Marronaro comfortably scoring his first goal of the season in the 34th minute.

The action continues in the second half, as Marronaro strikes the post with a powerful header. Cesena simply cannot got grasp a foothold in the game, as their goalkeeper works wonders to keep them level. However, three consecutive corners soon lead to the decisive blow for Bologna, as Ottoni leaps high to head the ball past the goalkeeper. The on-field situation is changed completely and despite a few attempts from Agostini, the hosts are able to secure the victory.
