Okwonkwo to Sky: “I dedicate my goals to my mum”
Orji Okwonkwo spoke with Sky after scoring three goals in this first part of the season. “I’m very happy, not just for my goals but above all for the team as we returned to winning against Verona and Sampdoria after four straight losses,” he said. “My role? Centre-forward but I can also play wide on either side. My first Serie A goal against Sassuolo was a great feeling. Afterwards, Donadoni told me off for taking my shirt off in the celebration. He was right but try to understand, it was the 90th minute and my first goal in Serie A was worth three points so I lost it a bit. I learnt after In Verona, I went to get the ball from the net and I took it straight back to the spot. Then, three minutes later Donsah scored to make it 3-2. Who do I dedicate my goals to? My mum who follows me from Nigeria with the rest of my family. I’d like to bring her here soon to live with me.”
