Merola accepts Saputo’s proposal to install a plaque for club’s foundation

Bologna Fc 1909 exchanged messages on social media with the local council who have agreed to Joey Saputo’s proposal to install a plaque to mark the place where the football club was founded on 3 October 1909. The Mayor Virginio Merola shared the club’s video with Chairman Joey Saputo wishing the club all the best and discussing the possibility of setting up a plaque to mark the spot.

“108 years of Rossoblu shirts and flags, thanks Bologna and happy birthday,” said the mayor. “This city’s team was born on 3 October 1909, our team. The council is happy to accept the proposal of Chairman Joey Saputo to put a plaque on the birthplace on via Spaderie 6 in the heart of the historic centre. The street isn’t there anymore, we’ll put the plaque on one of the buildings which have taken its place.”
