Destro to Sky: “I have a great desire to do well”
Mattia Destro spoke with Marco Nosotti of Sky Sport today. “I’m here after a difficult year when I was back after a long injury and I was late in getting back into shape, we’re now working a lot and well at the training camp,” he begun. “The time has come for Bologna to show what we’re worth and have a great year. Our main objective is to stay up but we’ll try to finish as high as possible as we take each match as it comes. I’m fortunate because every player in this group takes responsibility. Reinforcements have come in and the new additions have more experience. My shoulders are wide and I know what I can give. I want to get in condition immediately and do my talking on the pitch. What I can tell you is that I have a great desire to do well. The training camp only started recently and there will be a chance to speak face to face with the manager. He’s giving us a winning mentality that we’ve lacked in recent years and that can’t happen again. There are lots of teams I want to play against and lots of goals I want to score but regardless of the opposition with have to play each game to win. I was in good condition at the end of last season. These goals in friendlies matter and they don’t but it’s always a good sensation for an attacker when the ball hits the net. I want to play at the World Cup and it’s certainly my top objective to get there after a good season with Bologna. Verdi and Di Francesco have the same goal and we hope to do well together and take the team up. It’ll be a Bologna team which looks to impose its style of play and that’s the right mentality. I’ve not thought of moving even in the most difficult moments. I want to show Bologna who I am as a player and what I can do. To give two names, Immobile and Belotti keep doing well and it’s a stimulus for all of us forwards to be like them.”
