Saturday’s opponents: Roma

With his new team still under construction, Eusebio Di Francesco‘s Roma side are currently fifth in the Serie A league standings, notably having already been beaten by both Napoli and Inter. However, their 2-0 victory against Milan almost a month ago demonstrated that this Giallorossi team do have quality within their ranks, as well as maturity and potential. Winning seven of their nine league games so far, the team from the capital are yet to draw. They’ve also been impressive defensively, conceding just five all season.

In terms of goals scored, Roma are currently way behind the top four of Napoli, Inter, Juventus and Lazio, although they have been sure to make their total tally of 16 count. Picking up 21 points from nine fixtures, they have also scored 10 of their goals in the first half of matches. Dzeko has unsurprisingly bagged seven of their 16, once again showing that he can score goals of every genre. In his last 46 Serie A matches, the Bosnian striker has scored an impressive 36 goals, recently being well supported by both Under and El Shaarawy up front. Another concern for the Rossoblu on Saturday will be to restrain the versatile Florenzi, who is more than capable in many different positions across the pitch. Meanwhile, we’re yet to see either Schick or Defrel make a huge impact in the league, while Perotti has also scored just one this season. In contrast, Kolarov has made some key contributions in regard to goals, although Di Francesco will now be eager for his midfielders to start also stepping up. We must be sure to keep a close eye on the likes of De Rossi, Pellegrini and Nainggolan at the Stadio Olimpico, with the latter having already scored against us on three occasions previous. Strootman is also beginning to find his feet once again, while Gonalons has notably struggled since his summer arrival from Lyon.
