Fenucci highlights issues with VAR

This was what CEO Claudio Fenucci had to say in the mixed zone after #NapoliBFC: “Bologna performed well, doing so against a top team just like we did against Inter. In the first half we had a few goalscoring chances and we were very unfortunate. Firstly, there was Napoli’s equaliser from a deflection, before then the issue with the penalty. We were in favour of introducing VAR,  however, the referees have too much discretion in certain situations. Their penalty was very dubious, while Koulibaly’s handball also didn’t go in our favour. Obviously, the VAR operators were in agreement with the referee’s decision and this is disappointing. The referees must improve in using this tool, particularly in balancing it with their own discretion. Verdi’s injury was a shame and it was disappointing that he couldn’t play a part in such an important game. He would have been an additional threat. As for the final days of the transfer market, we will consider whether we need to make any further adjustments to the squad.”
