Di Vaio: “Pascutti was a unique goalscorer”
Club Manager Marco Di Vaio was interviewed in Sicily for his thoughts after club legend Ezio Pascutti passed away. “It’s very sad news because he was a role model for many of us who had the fortune of playing for Bologna,” he said. “He was one of the most important people in the history of Bologna, as a player and as a man, like Giacomo and all the figures from the last Scudetto win. We’re all in mourning as a club but I think it’s the same for all of football because what he did for Bologna was extraordinary and perhaps a once in a lifetime thing because few score so many for just one club.” The former striker then recalled his personal interactions with Pascutti. “We saw each other briefly and he’d always turn up when the club invited him to events,” he added. “We’d all share a few jokes on the game and football and it was always very nice to meet him and to have the chance to speak with him. Then afterwards, we couldn’t see him unfortunately because of illness and this sad news arrived yesterday.”
