Bologna, CRER and ANED together for Holocaust Memorial Day

Remembering is a duty so that one of the darkest pages of human history is not repeated. On Holocaust Memorial Day, which will take place on Friday 27 January, the Emilia-Romagna Regional Committee, together with the LND (Lega Nazionale Dilettanti – National Amateur League) Social Department, Bologna FC 1909 and ANED (Associazione Nazionale Ex Deportati – the National Association of Ex-Deportees), has organised an initiative that will involve the young players who play for the FIGC LND Rappresentativa Regionale Under-17s and Luca Sordi’s Under-16 Rossoblù team.

The event will take place on Wednesday 25 January and will consist of two parts. The first, starting at 13:30 CET, will see the youngsters gather at Piazza della Pace before heading to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara’s commemorative plaque dedicated to Arpad Weisz, the former Jewish Bologna coach who was deported and killed at Auschwitz. The young players involved will each receive a sticker of Vittorio Staccioni, the former Fiorentina and Torino footballer who was deported to Mauthausen. Then, the two captains will lay a wreath in Arpad Weisz’s memory.

The second part of the initiative will see the teams face each other in a friendly at Casteldebole at 15:30 CET.
